Community Auto Market – the Easiest, Most Cost Effective and Safest Way to Buy and Sell Used Vehicles – to Launch in the UK

The UK used vehicle market is set to change forever from 14th April 2013, the launch date of Community Auto Market at Kempton Park Racecourse from 9.30am-4.30pm

London - Community Auto Market, the revolutionary way to buy and sell cars, vans and motorcycles, launches in the UK on Sunday 14th April 2013 at Kempton Park Racecourse, Middlesex from 9.30am-4.30pm.

The buying and selling system that Community Auto Market employs is well established in other countries where it has been successfully operating for the past 30 years. Community Auto Market is the first company to bring this highly efficient way to buy and sell vehicles to these shores.

On Sundays throughout the UK, mainly in large car parks of racecourses, Community Auto Market will allow sellers to display their vehicles for a one-off low-cost entrance fee. Buyers can then view these vehicles all day and make their purchase right then and there. There is no entrance fee for buyers.

The main reason for its success is its simplicity, doing away with middlemen such as dealers, classified ads and even second hand vehicle websites while, at the same time, providing a really easy way to buy or sell vehicles.

Community Auto Market is revolutionary in its approach, primarily because it provides a safe public place where buyers and sellers can meet, as well as everything else needed to facilitate the sale.

For the buyer, each Community Auto Market event puts hundreds of privately owned vehicles on display which can be inspected and tested at leisure. All the essential paperwork can also be seen and buyers can talk, face to face, with sellers. A roving mechanic is also available to hire on site to check over vehicles as needed, and the AA or RAC will be there for instant membership sign up if required. Vehicle finance can be arranged through the Community Auto Market website with insurance links provided to secure policies by phone on Sundays.

For the seller, Community Auto Market puts their vehicles in front of hundreds of potential buyers, all for the price of a £20 entrance fee. All they have to do is bring their vehicle’s paperwork with them, namely: Current HPI Check, V5C Document and Road Tax disc, Vehicle Insurance Document, Contact Details (utilities account) and receipts of maintenance / MOT work done.

“Not only will we put hundreds of buyers together with hundreds of sellers in a safe public place on Sundays all over the UK, but we will also provide what must be the easiest, most efficient and cost effective way to buy or sell a vehicle ever devised. No dealer fees, no photographs, no listings, no appointments and no rip-off scams. Just turn up… it’s as simple as that!” says Claire Lore, spokesperson for Community Auto Market.

Starting at Kempton Park Racecourse on 14th April, Community Auto Market will host events in many racecourse car parks on Sundays throughout the UK by the summer. The events taking place in April 2013 are:
New venues are opening up all the time and locations and dates are updated regularly at http://community-auto-market.com/venues/

About Community Auto Market

Community Auto Market brings buyers and sellers of privately owned cars, vans and motorcycles together on Sundays from spring to autumn at popular venue sites across the UK. Everyone knows we get the most for our money if we buy a vehicle from, or sell a vehicle to, a private individual like ourselves… and Community Auto Market efficiently facilitates this interaction.

Gold on Gold: Double Olympic Gold Medalist, Pete Reed MBE, visits Grays of Westminster

Olympic Gold Medalist Pete Reed MBE (right) in the second-hand department of Grays of Westminster with Gray Levett holding Pete's two gold medals.

The Olympic champion and dedicated Nikon user, Pete Reed, visits Grays of Westminster - something he has wanted to do for a long time.

London - Double Olympic Gold Medalist (in the Coxless Four - Rowing) from Beijing 2008 and London 2012 and keen Nikon user, Pete Reed, recently visited Grays of Westminster, the award-winning Nikon-only dealer in London.

Grays of Westminster founder, Gray Levett said, "We were very honoured to be able to welcome Pete Reed MBE to Grays of Westminster. He graciously showed all the staff his two gold medals and we told him what an absolute inspiration he was to us all. The triumph of the British athletes at the Olympic Games created a wonderful feeling of unity and pride within the British Isles; it is he and others like him that continue to encourage and inspire us at Grays of Westminster to push our standards of service and professionalism to ever greater heights."

Pete Reed spent nearly three hours in the shop and left laden down with a number of Nikon gold boxes. In a message to Gray Levett he said:

"You have a wonderful place and a cracking group of people around you and I pride myself on being a good judge of character.  It was an honour to have so much of your time and a personal tour all afternoon and it's great to know that I can come back anytime."

About Grays of Westminster

Grays of Westminster, the multi-award-winning Nikon-only shop, was founded over a quarter of a century ago by Gray Levett with the idea of creating a world-class camera store, offering a service that was second to none. It is superbly located in a quiet area of central London, a few minutes walk from Victoria Railway Station; the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the Tate Britain, River Thames and Knightsbridge are all within easy reach. Grays of Westminster is not simply a famous Nikon camera shop; it is, to many photographers around the world, an institution. It can trace back its beginnings from a modest mail order company to its present, highly-respected position in the photographic industry.

Super Rare 13mm Nikkor Lens Used to Shoot Olympic Champion Pete Reed

The extremely rare 13mm f/5.6 Nikkor lens

Commissioned by Nikon Owner magazine, portrait photographer and rising star, Felix Kunze, uses the extremely rare 13mm f/5.6 Nikkor lens fitted to a Nikon D800 on his shoot of double Olympic Gold Medalist, Pete Reed.

London - Nikon Owner magazine commissioned portrait photographer and rising star, Felix Kunze to shoot double Olympic Gold Medalist, Pete Reed at the prestigious Leander Club at Henley-on-Thames using the extremely rare 13mm f/5.6 Nikkor lens fitted to a Nikon D800.

The 13mm f/5.6 Nikkor ultra-wide-angle lens was introduced in March 1976 in a pre-AI type lens mount. This extraordinary lens was only ever available to special order. The 13mm f/5.6 covers an angle of 118º. It weighs in at 1200 grams and represents the widest rectilinear lens available for the 35mm format. It is 4 inches long (10.2cm), with an aperture range from f/5.6 to f/22.

It has 16 elements in 12 groups; the front element has a diameter of almost 11cm and is surrounded by a fixed 'petal' style lens hood. It has a floating rear element design, CRC close-range correction, a rectilinear element design for straight line rendition and can focus down to one foot. In 1977 the lens was updated to the AI standard, and in March 1982 the third version was introduced with the AIS type mount with four x 39mm (rear bayonet mount) filters: Skylight, Orange, Amber and Blue in a CL-14 case.
It was designed by Mr. Ikuo Mori of the 1st Optical Section, Optical Designing Department at Nikon Optical Japan. Apparently only about 350 of these lenses were ever made.

The location for the shoot was the prestigious Leander Club at Henley-on-Thames. The Leander Club is one of the world's oldest rowing clubs, an institution in itself and a hugely influential piece of British, International and Olympic history. Nestled by the finish line of the Henley Royal Regatta, it also occupies a prime spot next to the only straight stretch of the Thames anywhere. The shoot took place at dawn on a cold November day in 2012.

As well as his illustrious career in the Royal Navy, Pete is a double Olympic Gold Medalist in the Coxless Four (Rowing) from Beijing 2008 and London 2012. He also has the world’s largest recorded lung capacity at 11.68 litres.

"In order to capture the brilliance of this remarkable lens, one of the greatest Nikon has ever made, we needed a combination of a first class photographer like Felix Kunze, a remarkable sportsman like Pete Reed, a superb location like the Leander Club, and a gifted Director of Photography like Mark Gibson," said Gray Levett, Editor, Nikon Owner magazine.

The shoot is the cover story of Issue 41 of Nikon Owner magazine and a behind the scenes video of the shoot can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr-_KTLF_D4
